“I now see how owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.” – Brené Brown.
Life is messy and inherently unpredictable; this is what it means to be human. We all need and deserve space to be heard and seen, to slow down, feel, process, and grow. Your journey is as unique as you are, and you deserve someone who is willing and able to meet you where you are and guide you forward. Though challenging, showing up for yourself in life is the most profound, authentic, and courageous step towards healing. My goal is to help you navigate life’s adversities, uncover meaning and connections within yourself and your relationships, while leveraging and expanding upon what is within you. I believe we are all worthy and capable of understanding, and meaningful change.
Hi, I’m Stephanie. I am a Mental Health Clinician with a Masters in Psychology (MPsy) in Clinical Psychology from Adler Graduate Professional School. I am offering both psychotherapy and psychological assessment services. I’m currently working towards registration as a Psychological Associate with the College of Psychologists and Behavioural Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO), under the supervision of Dr. Lara Hiseler, C. Psych. I completed my undergraduate degree, BSc (Hons), in psychology at Trent University and was the Governor General’s Academic Medal recipient. In my life prior to finding my true calling in psychology, I also completed an undergraduate degree, BSc (Hons), in Biological Chemistry at Ontario Tech University, and worked in Research and Development as an Analytical Chemist in the pharmaceutical industry for 3 years.
For over a decade, I have held various positions in the field of psychology, in both clinical and research domains, including working as a Mental Health and Addictions Clinician with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR), in the Road Ahead Mobile Wellness Clinic. In this role, I helped adults living in rural and remote communities access services to work on a wide variety of psychological concerns.
I approach psychotherapy from a client-centred and trauma-informed place incorporating techniques from a variety of different modalities, to tailor things to you! I have expertise in working with, but not limited to, challenges with anxiety and mood, relationships, work and school, identity and personality, emotion regulation, trauma, substance use, body image, sleep and routine management. I often use tools from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy approaches, and am forever expanding my toolkit through various trainings and professional development opportunities. I’m excited to work with you - as a fellow traveller - to be a soft place to land, learn some new things about yourself, and help you come up with a plan to lead your life in a positive direction.
I also provide comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessments for adults presenting with a range of mental health challenges. If you have questions about your cognitive, emotional and behavioural functioning, and/or you are wondering whether you may have a mental health diagnosis, an assessment can be an empowering experience to inform your understanding and path forward. These assessments can also be helpful for proposing accommodations in your place of work. The process typically includes a 2-3 hour clinical interview, psychological questionnaires, and potentially gathering collateral information from other people in your life. After writing the report, we will debrief the results together, help you understand what this means about you, communicate any diagnoses, and propose recommendations for your individualized treatment and improved well-being. Please note that I am not able to assess for autism spectrum disorder.
Let’s work together!
