Ronda Monahan is a dedicated and experienced registered social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Ronda's journey into the field of social work began at McMaster University, where she pursued a degree in Social Work and Sociology, setting the foundation for her future career. Her passion for helping others and commitment to supporting marginalized individuals, families and communities led her to further her education, and she successfully completed her Master's of Social Work at McGill University.

With a strong interest in addiction and mental health, Ronda has immersed herself in extensive training and professional development in these areas. She holds a specialized certificate in Addiction and Mental Health and has honed her skills in various therapeutic approaches, including extensive training in Marriage and Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Psychotherapy. As an active member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers, Ronda remains committed to staying current with on going professional development training.

Over the course of her exciting 30-year career, Ronda has amassed a diverse range of experiences in different social work settings. She has worked in child welfare, where she played a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children. In a hospital setting, she has supported patients and their families through challenges by providing crisis support interventions through Adult Outpatient Psychiatry.  Ronda's expertise also extends to working with offenders dealing with addiction and mental health issues, both within institutions and in the community. Her dedication to education led her to become a Professor of Counselling in Mental Health and Addiction Program at the college level, as well as an Instructor in Social Work program at the university level. Furthermore, she has provided clinical supervision to fellow social workers, published resources supporting social work students, fostering growth and professional development within the field.

Additionally, Ronda has served as an Addiction and Mental Health Clinician with several local community agencies, offering essential mental health services to individuals, couples, and families. She has developed a profound understanding of various mental health concerns, substance use challenges, trauma, anger management, concurrent disorders, self-esteem issues, grief, interpersonal conflicts and family lifecycle transitions.  Beyond individual work, Ronda has a passion for group facilitation, where she designs and leads psychoeducational groups for individuals dealing with addiction, mental health challenges, anger management, substance use concerns, criminal thinking, depression, anxiety, stress, and relaxation. Her dedication to creating therapeutic groups has proven beneficial within education, institutions and the community.

Ronda's treatment interventions are diverse and tailored to the unique needs of her clients. Her approach is rooted in trauma-informed care and an anti-oppressive framework, reflecting her commitment to addressing the impacts of trauma and promoting inclusivity and equity in her practice. Her expertise includes dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, interpersonal therapy, family therapy and mindfulness therapy.

Throughout her career, Ronda Monahan has consistently demonstrated dedication to improving the lives of individuals, couples, and families facing various challenges. Her combination of education, experience, and compassionate approach has made her a respected and valuable member within the field of social work and mental health.
