Everyone encounters bumps, or sometimes mountains, along the road. Whether someone is navigating relationship challenges, intense emotions, past experiences, or a general sense that something isn’t quite right, Sam aims to help individuals reconnect with where they want to be. She supports individuals in developing practical skills, deepening self-understanding, and finding compassionate ways to process and integrate their experiences.
Sam (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). She completed a Social Service Worker diploma at Seneca College, a Bachelor of Social Work at Trent University, and is currently finishing her Master of Social Work at York University.With over five years of experience in the mental health sector, Sam has worked at various community mental health organizations across Durham Region and Peterborough. Her roles have included case management, counselling, and the development and facilitation of support groups and psychoeducational workshops. She has supported individuals living with a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and other neurodiversities.
Sam’s practice is guided by a love of learning and a strong commitment to equity. She is inclusive of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and approaches her work with empathy, warmth, and curiosity. Her therapeutic style is flexible and client-centred, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-Based Self-Compassion. She is grounded in trauma-informed care and believes deeply in the importance of community, connection, and collaborative healing.
Outside of her professional life, Sam seeks adventure and approaches the world with humour and care. She enjoys hiking, canoeing, and camping, playing sports such as softball and roller derby, and diving into board games that are often far more complicated than they need to be. She also loves creative pursuits, including painting, crocheting, and exploring any new craft she can get her hands on.
