Madison Turpin, MSW RSW

 

Madison is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), as well as the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). Madison completed her Bachelor of Arts at The University of Guelph where she majored in Criminal Justice and Political Science, with a minor in Child, Youth and Family Studies. She obtained a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.

The foundation of Madison’s clinical approach is informed by her background in therapeutic outdoor recreation programming. Incorporating play, movement, humour and collaboration remains an integral part of her therapeutic style. Madison has significant experience working with young adults, groups, families and parents in a diverse range of environments. Including live-in treatment centres for substance use and addiction, inpatient hospital settings, community based mental health care, programs for neurodiverse individuals and children’s mental health.

Madison prioritizes relationship with clients in her therapeutic approach, incorporating authenticity and accountability as pillars in her process. She provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, all from an attachment and trauma informed lens.

In her work with couples, Madison utilizes the work of the Gottman Institute, Emotion Focused Therapy, Esther Perel’s Teachings and Attachment Theory. Madison is an open member of the LGBTQ2+ community, and welcomes couples of all backgrounds, including Queer identifying individuals and relationships.

Madison also offers supportive sessions for parents/guardians during varied phases of parenthood, for all types of families. Including parents who live in the same household, during separation/divorce mediation, post-divorce, blended families and adoption. These sessions are for caregivers only, and individuals over the age of 16.
