My name is Lisa (she/her) and I have the privilege of walking alongside folks in some of their most difficult times. For the past decade, I have been providing individual and group counselling with a focus on trauma and addictions, but I also address anxiety, grief, and all kinds of challenges that life presents. I have always had a natural inclination to listening to others and understanding them, which led me to study counselling during my Masters at Tyndale University in Toronto in 2014.
I have been fortunate to work on a team for the past decade which included social workers, psychotherapists, psychiatrists and nurses. This allowed me to learn from a multi-disciplinary perspective about what contributes to health and balance in each of us.
I am an avid learner and am passionate about professional development. I have trained in several Level 2 Internal Family Systems trainings as well as served as a Program Assistant for both Level 1 and Level 2 trainings. I have advanced Dialectical Behaviour Therapy training, Level 1 EMDR training and my certificate in Somatic Embodiment with Linda Thai. I have taken numerous other workshops to understand trauma and the nervous system, intimate partner violence, neurodivergence, psychodrama, and more. I also teach a third year course at Yukon University called Clinical Counselling. One of the things I love about this field is there is always more to learn.
I primarily use an Internal Family Systems lens, holding that we all have parts of us that may try to protect us in ways that cause us more suffering, and that we all have internal wisdom and capacity to heal. My aim is to help you access that wisdom so that you can face whatever lessons life has put in front of you and come back to who you are.
Outside of work, I love to enjoy the outdoors by camping, hiking and paddling. I also love playing music with friends and finding little gems of local food. I'd love to meet you if you are interested in working together.
